Hey,
It's a late night for me. I'm still thinking about all the great information given to us at the Southeasternfilmmakers Columbia meeting Tues. night. Filmmaker David Jones hit a lot of points. My mind is still rattling on the first point- set goals. I'm going to rant about that one point in this blog post. In addition, I would encourage you to check out the entire meeting minutes at http://www.southeasternfilmmakers.com/ Go to the forum and you click on Columbia meeting recap for Sept. 7.
Rhonda and I spent some time setting goals today. Our first order of business- promotion, marketing, and creating a revenue stream. We got a head start this past weekend when we submitted our two completed shorts to http://www.mobilefilmworks.com/. It's a website that streams independent movies from your cellphone or PC. In addition, part of the submission process was to create a poster. If selected, we anticipated pricing to be $2-$3 for mobile and PC upload of the films.
Today we selected promotional items for our company and our completed films. We've ordered company t-shirts for ourselves; new business cards; and we revised the original film poster we created. See attachment of thumb size print. We placed an initial order of 10 posters for each movie poster and should have them by the end of the month. We decided to put both From the Shallow to the Deep and Angel of Mine DVD's On Sale on Oct. 1 along with the posters so that we can fund some future projects.
Pricing will be as follows
Poster w/ actors/crew signatures will be $5.
Angel of Mine DVD $4
From the Shallow to the Deep DVD $6
Both movies $8.
A poster is $3 with purchase of movie.
We're being modest, so our goal is to sell 500 individual DVD's (avg. $5) and 100 posters within the month of October. As such, we plan to do some heavy promotions and marketing by working with a publicist. In addition, nothing is better than Word-of-Mouth, so spread the word as well.
Sharee
