Narrowing Down Your Products/Services

As I drove home last night from class all I could think about was how can We Connected Productions, LLC serve our current and future clients & consumers. We began class with what was one thing you did for your company this week. The answers varied from hiring and interviewing employees; feedback from family, friends, clients, customers; surveys given to potential clients & consumers to find out how to price your service; changing your mission statement; changing your plan, but not your business idea; increasing web presence; and branding/differentiation.

Eight Entrepreneurial Attributes You Can’t Fake
Positive Believing -- Burning Desire -- Unwavering Commitment -- Power of Persistence -- Hard Work -- Acceptance of Responsibility -- Pride of Performance -- Enjoy the Work

We Connected Productions, LLC is not currently in the position to hire employees, but we want these same characteristics in our employees as well. Employees represent your business. You can have new employees shadow you or follow-up with customers/clients to find out how your employee is doing. Follow-up is the key. Don't take too long to figure out if you hired the right person.

Key Tips:Keep your business name out there. People forget. Nothing personal. It takes 1-2 years to build relationships. Think about your business for 15min., 30min, or an hour per day away from your cellphone & computer. Match your skills with the 8 attributes above.

Speaker: Erik Doerring from The McNair Law Firm
  • Business license/registration requirement for your business at the local, state, and federal level
  • Go to the South Carolina Economic Development Website and click on SC Business One Stop for all the forms to fill out to start your business.
  • Do everything in the name of your company. An example is to have your business name and LLC on business cards, websites, buying a building for your company, company car, and leases.
Raising money for your business: Pay back loans with interest even if it is a family member or friend; Be careful what you say to solicit money; put partnership deals in writing(Ex. how much will each partner pay into the account each month as capital to the business); Emails can be contracts and you can go to court.

Protection: Buy insurance. Although you have Copyright in your films/videos you still need to protect it by registering it with the US patent office office. Be truthful as to what your service or product is and is not. Can you guarantee it?
