I wanted to update everyone on a few projects.
Everything went well with King Films Safe House casting last weekend. We had almost 40 hopefuls and half a dozen video submissions. We will be contacting talent this week and into the weekend. Columbia and surrounding areas have a lot of talent with people eager to "let their light shine". We're going to do everything we can to make that happen. All they need is a chance. Small things lead to great things. Shooting will take place June-August, most weekends and some weekday evenings.
As for the webisode, The Resolution Pact, shooting is pushed back to early to mid August to accommodate talents acting in other film projects June to mid-July. There were also some conflicts with Summer family vacations. It worked out in the end because it gave me time to look at another script I had written entitled Angel of Mine. It's a 8 minute short about a father explaining to his young daughter why her mother and he were "unequally yoke". It's tentatively planned to be shot during the weekend we were going to start shooting the webisode. Our goal is to submit it to BET's Lens on Talent as they are requesting shorts of 8 min. or less. The deadline is June 30.
A final notice of importance is that both Rhonda and I had the opportunity to have some of our scripts read by LA Screenwriting Consultant Ronda Berkeley. She has worked on shows such as Everybody Hates Chris and NCIS. We both received positive and constructive feedback to make our scripts better. Additionally, I entered a short script into the Cyberspace Screenwriting Competition. Please check out the comments left by my readers. I'm number 28186. It was an opportunity to write a script in less than 3 days with a prompted scenario. I was glad to be in the 80's and hope to get into the 90's next time around. It was a fun experience and I plan to enter the contest every 3 months.
