ABFF Day #1

What can I say about today.  It can only be summed up by three words: God is Good!

We started the morning at the beach and walked the boardwalk to the Ritz-Carlton to pick-up our registration packet.   A short time later we ran into a high school classmate, John Ewing, who is Exec. Director of Consinsual, showing at the festival.  We provided a press packet to him for consideration of being Exec. Producer of The Resolution Pact and to review our completed work.

We then attended a seminar featuring Idris Elba, Daddy's Girls, The Wire, American Gangster, etc.  He provided acting, producing, and musical advice for inspiring artists.  He was very candid about filmmakers collaborating together and getting access to A list actors.  His management company even accepted our press packet of our entire body of work.  We later saw his latest movie Legacy which is in contention for best feature film at the festival.

We later met a successful playwright and inspiring filmmaker who drove 22 hours from Detroit to get to Miami.  Sheri Brooks is starting a Christian Film Festival in Detroit, and she invited us to have both of our current short films, From the Shallow to the Deep and Angel of Mine, shown.  Rhonda and I will be getting together with the talent and crew to come up with some fundraising ideas so that everyone can travel to the festival in May 2011 in the Motor City!!

The conclusion of the night was the HBO Short Film contest.  There were five excellent films, and I'm excited for each of the Directors, Writers, and Producers of these films.  They are all truly talented and it was a huge inspiration to be amongst such go-getters.

We were also able to take a few pics and sharing them below. The pics were of South Beach; ABFF Star on the Rise and BET's Lens on Talent movie Akira's Hip Hop Shop, actress Emayatzy Corinealdi ; and HBO's The Rowe Effect & BET Lens on Talent movie Jackson Parish actor James Holloway.  We'll be back to share Day #2 tomorrow night, so stay tuned.
