It’s been a whirlwind couple of days spreading the word about both Moving Forward Pictures Paranoid, and We Connected Productions From the Shallow to the Deep. However, it’s paying off in rewarding experiences. On Monday we had the opportunity to meet with one of Heidi’s Producing classes at USC to request volunteers. We were able to attract one young lady to work with us in various capacities- make-up artist, set decorator, and casting assistant. I also found out she is proficient as a graphic designer, so she’ll be developing our company logo and initial brochure. For this special skill–set, we will pay her a small stipend for her time. I also ran into one of her classmates yesterday during another classroom meeting, and she wants to help as well. Tuesday we had the opportunity to travel to Edgefield, SC to meet up with the Augusta Film network. They were very friendly and insightful in aiding us with our projects. From this meeting we were able to tap into a guy who will assist in audio. We also learned about self-distribution strategies and utilizing independent film distributors to upfront production costs. Today, I will have a meeting with the volunteer to give her an idea of some of the expectations of both projects. The professor said they’ll get extra credit for helping. I believe she deserves extra credit times 10 because her enthusiasm is off the charts just from our rapid emails thus far. Then after work we’ll be meeting with a lady who is interested in us developing a film based on her life experiences over the last 5 years. Excited about how things are taking off, but also realize there is next to no budget we’re working with. But that’s ok. Most of the shorts we’re working on will be in the $250-$1K range. A feature will run in the $10K-$25K range. It is our goal to give ourselves three years to start earning profit (before the IRS determines it is a hobby). Most of the potential income will come from distribution deals and DVD sales. I will elaborate on this topic on another post, but would like to note that the reason we’re seeking donations initially versus investors is that the SEC regulations and filings are very complicated. Our purpose is to make faith-based, family, and empowering movies. Whether we have $4 (it can be done), $500, or $2000 when we begin production. Developing and investing relationships with people has been key to what we have accomplished thus far. And we can’t forget faith. It has taken us this far and will carry us on!!
Pic of camera that will be used to shoot Paranoid. It's expected to have the quality of a $60K camera!
